Nostalgia Film Festival is the first independent Iranian film festival in Italy, with no affiliation to any political or religious organizations, launched in 2019 with the aim of displaying attractive and broad audience Iranian cinematic productions in the European zone.
Mission
Our festival is a annual event showcasing independent feature and short films made by Iranians from around the world.
NFF, even if for a short period of time is trying to be able to create sweet and nostalgic memories of the Iranian gathering in Iran for our Iranian audiences and presenting a part of Iranian culture and cinema for the non-Iranian audiences of the festival.
Passion
Selection of films will be solely based on the taste and desire of the audience in each period regardless of pursuing a cultural, Political or any other approach.
We believe that the major audience artworks at any given time reflect the cultural, social, economic, and political concerns as a part of a society that has been properly expressed and appreciated by its audience.
NOSTALGIA Festival is a place to see works that are sometimes less visible
Premium awards
Nostalgia Film Festival is (still) a small celebration with big dreams in Milan, Rome, Naples, the fashion capital of the world and the famous city of culture, art and trade.
NOSTALGIA FILM FESTIVAL
In our fourth edition, held from October 19 to November 17, 2023, the Nostalgia Film Festival, despite its modest size, pursued grand aspirations and meaningful goals. Welcoming three esteemed Italian cinema experts to our jury, we expanded our reach to Naples, Rome, and Milan, subtitled all finalists in Italian, and discovered a renewed sense of vitality, recognizing that we have the potential to achieve even greater heights in the coming years.
In 2022, from September 15 to 17, the Nostalgia Film Festival entered its third chapter. With the script category omitted and the introduction of documentaries, our collaboration with Poliran at the University of Politecnico di Milano continued to shine, marking another vibrant celebration of cinema and culture.
In our second edition, the Nostalgia Film Festival soared with over 1400 film and script submissions. Gathering a diverse panel of global film industry professionals as our esteemed jury, we once again converged at Nuovo Armenia in Milan from September 21 to 23, 2021, to celebrate the power of storytelling and cinematic creativity.
In 2020, despite the challenges of Covid-19, Nostalgia Film Festival adapted. Hosting an Iranian Cinema Night at Nouvo Armenia, a cozy Milanese garden cafe, we shared the magic of our first edition's best short films. It was a special evening, proving that even in uncertain times, the spirit of the festival shines bright.
In 2019, the Nostalgia Film Festival made its debut in Milan, immersing audiences in the captivating realm of Iranian cinema, arts, culture, folklore, and history. A collaboration with the Poliran cultural association enriched the event, creating a tapestry of memories that resonated through the city from November 26 to 28. As the festival's first edition unfolded, it left behind a legacy of cinematic nostalgia, uniting diverse facets of Iranian heritage on the vibrant canvas of Milan.

Le onde Tenui del mare amico is first feature film as director. I had the idea for this film since 3 years ago, after my countless encounters with migrants from different countries, from which I made “Papula”, a docu-fiction, back in 2008.
